Description
SUMMARY: Julio, a Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian youth living in the barrio of Spanish Harlem, suffers from strange visions. When he decides to believe Taína, a girl from school who is pregnant but claims to be a virgin, his love for her becomes a storm of emotions that will call into question his parents, his religion, and the basic principles of science. Together with Taína's uncle, an ex-convict with a hidden past who goes by "El Vejigante", Julio finds himself involved in a series of crimes that will bring him closer to Taína, but ultimately reveal a family secret from which no one will emerge unscathed.--Translation of page 4 of cover.
